George:
Steve... think about your wife. Surely she's worth staying for?
Steve Carter:
She's gone. Left me for someone else.
George Miller:
Oh. Right... Okay, what about your brother? You two were close, weren't you?
Steve Carter:
That's the "someone else" I was talking about. They left together.
George Miller:
Damn, okay... this is rough. But your kids? They still need their father.
Steve Carter:
They aren't mine. They're his.
He says it without a hint of emotion, his face completely blank.
George Miller:
Honestly? I get it. If I were standing in your boots, I’d be looking at the edge too.
Steve Carter:
It’s the same for most of us up here. I’m not in love with the idea of dying. I just... I’ve run out of reasons to stay.
George Miller (softly):
I hear you. But Steve, there's one thing you don't know. One reason that's still out there waiting for you.
